Have you been looking for ways to integrate working for social justice with your private practice? Do you believe that front line workers need support for their agency work? If so consider joining TFC as a volunteer therapist.

You can use your clinical skills to make a difference in the lives of those affected by the foster care system. We are devoted to providing pro-bono psychotherapy to children and adolescents in foster care. We also work with young adults who have been in care and parents working towards reunification with their children. These populations tend to present with histories of multiple relationship disruptions and losses, and TFC is searching for clinicians who are willing to go the extra mile to form therapeutic relationships with those who may have never experienced safe attachment.

While we ask for one clinical hour each week for your assigned case, we acknowledge that this work is challenging and frequently calls for creative solutions to provide therapy that is "usable" to the population we serve. To help with these challenges, weekly group supervision provided by senior clinicians prominent in the therapeutic community is offered. The clinical work takes place in your private practice office and is scheduled between you and your assigned client.

The majority of our clients are African- American and Latino. We are especially interested in recruiting volunteer therapists of color, those located in boroughs outside of Manhattan, and those who speak Spanish.

If you are interested in joining TFC please fill out the form on this page.
